$4.32 $4.80Ask a question
Type: whole Juniper Berry.
Process: dry whole ripe Juniper Berry.
Fragrance: mild, pleasant berry smell.
Whole ripened Juniper Berry, in the natural purple-black with a blue waxy coating. The berries of the juniper plant contain chemicals called flavonoids, tannins, and volatile oil. These are the ingredients that are considered important because of their chemical abilities to heal.
Folk Medicine: Juniper berries are most often used as a diuretic since the chemicals in the berries are an irritant to the kidneys, which causes them to produce more urine, removing fluid from the body. Juniper berries are usually prescribed by herbalists for kidney problems such as cystitis. They’re also used for edema—unless the edema is caused by a lack of kidney function. In that case, juniper berries would only make the situation worse. In very small doses, Juniper Berry is known to be used to stimulate the appetite. This is good for someone fighting an illness that is causing a loss of appetite.
CAUTION: Taking Juniper Berry in excess or for too long can cause kidney problems. Pregnant women shouldn’t take juniper berries because they can stimulate the uterus and cause a pregnancy to abort.
